You can work on your documentaries. Of course, you areexpected to be here this afternoon if you have a class with Lyn.

So:

1. Working on documentaries.

2. Presenting radio shows.

It is rather disturbing that a few of you have decided to change your topics ten days before the deadline!!

However, if you only have this one assignment to finish and you devote the next 10 ten days to it, you might get it finished. Look at it this way, if you were producing a half hour show for Radio National you would have something like 37.5 working hours to do it.

The rest of you seem to have things under control. I would like to listen to the documentaries in next Wednesday’s class.

This Wednesday I believe we have some more programs: The Four Wisemen, Music Mate, The Punchline, Alex’s Kaleidoscope, redisCOVERed?

4. You do not have to supply a demo (that is done later) but you can add on your resume that you are able to supply examples of voxpops, reviews, interviews and radio programs.

Deadline for applications is Friday November 5, 2010.

In the next week, I am also going to ask each group to nominate their best program so that I can give everyone some written feedback.

After today you have two weeks left to submit the documentary. These are due on Wednesday November 17 when we will listen to them in class.

I will post a booking sheet on the studio door for the next two weeks so if you need to use the studio this is where you book. You can also get access on the weekends. If you are doing narration you need to use the studio.

For the following days you can work on your documentary – gather interviews, script, produce etc – at home if you need to: Monday November 8, Wednesday November 10 and Monday November 15.

I will be in class to assist you if you need to see me on these days. My one proviso is this: during radio time you work on radio. I do not want to find anyone working on other things – or wasting time – during the time allocated for class – unless they are finished the documentary. I will be checking on this.

How you manage your time is important and up to you!

I remind you that you will be getting assessed in Radio on 6 competencies – 4 of them with the documentary – so it is up to you to allocate sufficient time over the next 14 days for this.

I have to have assessments in on Monday November 22 so there will be NO extensions.

Some words of advice: When it is radio class time you are expected to be working on your documentary or other radio work! Enough said.
